Are you aged 16+ and looking to get experience of engaging the public with nature this summer? Then this could be the volunteer role for you! London Wetland Centre is a pioneering nature reserve in Barnes, South-West London, that gives space for nature in the heart of the capital. We offer exciting activities for budding naturalists young and old, especially during school holidays when we have lots of families coming to explore nature and take part in fun activities like pond dipping and bat walks.
This varied role involves helping with these activities, setting things up, helping families take part and then packing away afterwards. One day you might be dipping for creatures in our pond, the next helping with a craft workshop. There's also the chance to help guide groups at night during one of our bat walks.
In return we'll offer full training for the role and the chance to spend time in a beautiful wetland nature reserve. You'll also gain valuable experience with a major UK environmental charity and a range of transferable skills. It's also suitable for people aged 16+ so can provide valuable experience for UCAS applications etc.
Taster days for the role will be happening during May Half-Term between Saturday 24th May and Sunday 1st June. Induction for the role will be in w/b 21st July. Please note that this role will involve some basic online health and safety training.
Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.
If you are interested in volunteering for WWT but don't wish to apply online, please email [email protected] or leave a message at 01453 891 231 with your name and number.
