About The Role

We are looking for a proactive and focused individual to join our Animal Healthcare Team in providing weekend Veterinary cover.  Your main responsibilities will be for clinical diagnosis and post mortem examinations of the animals, you will also assist with disease prevention, zoo licensing, wild bird care and occasionally conservation animal health activities. 

Working in a fast paced environment you will be part of a team expected to deliver comprehensive animal health cover throughout the year, based at Slimbridge Wetland Centre you will also remotely oversee the other WWT Zoo’s.

This role is working 15 hours a week, Saturday and Sunday.

About You

The successful candidate will have: 

  • a veterinary degree
  •  experience of working in a busy veterinary environment including clinical work with exotic species
  • experience of conducting post-mortem examinations

Ideally they will have specialist knowledge of avian pathology and biology.
