About The Role

WWT Slimbridge was the very first of WWT's wetland centres - leading the way in bringing wetlands to life and inspiring people to connect with nature.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Living Collection Assistant to join our mammal team. Caring for a unique collection of wetland mammals as an Assistant, you’ll help create unforgettable experiences for our visitors by sharing the stories of our Asian small-clawed otters, water voles, and harvest mice, while also playing a hands-on role in their care and wellbeing.

You’ll be part of a passionate team, with opportunities to learn across different areas of the centre and contribute to our mission of inspiring everyone to love and protect wetlands. Please see the job description for all the detail.

This is a Fixed Term contract for 6 months 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days in 7 to include weekends and bank holidays.

About You

We’re looking for a passionate and driven individual to join our team.

Ideally, you’ll have:

experience working with similar species, and you’ll play an active role in supporting the care and welfare of our mammals.
Alongside hands-on husbandry, you’ll help bring our animals’ stories to life through daily talks and visitor engagement.
Strong communication skills.
The ability to work well as part of a large, supportive team are essential.
Experience in animal training or working with ectotherms would be a welcome bonus.
