About The Role

Would you like to make a meaningful contribution to the conservation of black-tailed godwits and associated wet grassland species?
 

WWT Welney Wetland Centre in Norfolk, takes in 700ha of the northernmost part of the Ouse Washes supporting countless wetland species including breeding populations of black-tailed godwit, lapwing, redshank and snipe and attracting mass winter gatherings of many thousands of wild ducks and swans. With its modern visitor centre, Welney is the gateway to Norfolk and the Ouse Washes.

You will bring your knowledge and experience of managing wetland nature reserves for wildlife and people to support the team to drive forward our vision for Welney Wetland Centre.

This is a permanent, full time role working 37.5 hours a week, 5 days out of 7 including weekends and bank holidays.

About You

To join as our Reserve Warden you’ll need:

  • a good mix of practical conservation and engagement experience, in relation to lowland wetland grasslands
  • experience of working in a reserve management role with experience of using machinery e.g. brushcutters, tractors, chainsaws
  • a proven ability to engage and enthuse the public, about nature and wildlife
  • the ability to work independently
