About The Role

At the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust we shape unforgettable experiences. By working as part of the reserve’s volunteer team you will assist with the management of all aspects of the nature reserve. This will help to provide our wildlife with the most beneficial of habitats and provide visitors with a great day out and encourage them to engage with and support our work to save wetlands for wildlife and people.
This is a fantastic opportunity and could be a stepping stone for anyone wanting to gain further experience to help gain a career in conservation

The sort of tasks you will be doing could include:
  •  Assisting with maintenance of hedges and trees.
  • Helping to remove by hand encroaching vegetation and invasive plant species.
  • Assisting with maintenance of meadows, such as removal of grass piles.
  • Creating and maintaining infrastructure such as pathways and hides.
  • Creating and maintaining wildlife habitat including ponds, woodland and reedbeds.
Thursday volunteering is an excellent opportunity to get to work behind the scenes with the Reserve Team to help us undertake our essential habitat management. You'll join a social, friendly group of 4-10 other regular Thursday volunteers, spend the day in the great outdoors and you might even see some excellent wildlife while you work too.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

If you are interested in volunteering for WWT but don't wish to apply online, please email [email protected] or leave a message at 01453 891 231 with your name and number.
