About The Role

Why do we need you?

At the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust we create and conserve wetlands and save species who live in them while bringing awe-inspiring nature up close, letting it do the talking through the amazing wildlife to be found on site.
Accuracy in data recording is crucial in all nature reserves and this role offers the opportunity to assist in the recording of such data for use both on site and for disseminating to wider organisations to provide much needed info on the national status of species in order to provide co-ordinated species support.

What will you be doing?
  • Updating the Recorder 6 and BTO database with Washington’s biodiversity data.
  • Transferring hard or electronic copies of biodiversity surveys to electronic versions for dissemination to WWT and related organisations.
What will you get from the role?
  •  This is an excellent opportunity to work within an internationally important wetland site, to ensure our vital species records are up to date and we can continue to use this to support grant applications, identify trends in species and inform management plans so we can best support wildlife at WWT Washington.
  • Opportunity to work on site, alongside a friendly team of staff.
  • Building natural history knowledge by becoming more familiar with the species present at WWT Washington.
  • Free entry to all WWT sites and discount is available in the cafe and shop on the days of volunteering.

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.

If you are interested in volunteering for WWT but don't wish to apply online, please email [email protected] or leave a message at 01453 891 231 with your name and number.
